4x-ampl

4XampL is executive producer of Insiduous Urban Records (IUR) and Insiduous Records (INS), both formed and self-financed in 1999. He got involved in the industry when bands with strong independent aesthetics coming out of Y2K San Francisco scene were not being picked up by local and major labels. For IUR, 4XampL selected the jazz-funk up-rock style of hip-hop groups like Foreign Legion, DJ Design, Crown City Rockers (originally known as Mission), Headnodic and Bas Bombing. Disappointed by with a no-advance P&D deal offered by Nu Gruv Alliance in 1999, 4XampL took a US exclusive P&D with Caroline Records in 2000 that stipulated that he manage Fanatik's Heratik label which would receive an advance for delivery of Planet Asia EP and Wild Stylus EP among new products. The deal lasted two years, but Heratik never delivered the two EPs to Caroline and relations collapsed in early 2002. For INS, 4XampL worked closely with bands producing multi-track analog albums with concept bands with complex melodies, harmonies and rhythm sections like YOU, Jimmy Two Times, Artbox, Mozaik and Team USA (an early incarnation of Razed High). 4XampL's pet project is Razed High with Haiy-ding (aka Metaform).
