THE CANDY THIEVES, in Coventry, existed between October 1988- September 1990 Line up included: Pete Fijalkowski - Guitar / Vocals, Wayne Peters -Guitar, Simon - Bass, Simon Harper - Drums, Wil - Bass, Krzys Fijalkowski - Guitar (one gig), Adam Watson - Drums, Pete - Panasonic Drum machine Kevin Gritton - Drums DISCOGRAPHY -' Head Inside' (4 song demo), 'Lush' (4 song demo), Homeboy/Underwater (Trolley Records Flexidisc 7"), 'Blow' (3 song demo) Formed after Pete's earlier band Bubblegum Flesh. Pete started by writing a song which he recorded on his brother Krzys' four-track in Norwich, called 'Drink me Up'. He got together with fellow film-student Wayne. Originally Wayne was to front the band as he had been the singer in a previous outfit in Somerset, but in the end it was decided that Pete would have a go at singing. They got two guys called Simon to play bass and drums, within two months they were playing live gigs. Simon (bass) left after the first demo. Wil was drafted on bass, and at the same time Simon Harper on drums left to concentrate on fronting his band The Ludicrous Lollipops (as well as later tour managing Adorable). They recorded a second demo ('Lush') which was sent off to a dozen or so labels. Kevin joined on drums. They recorded a flexi. Wayne, Wil and Pete moved into a house, where they rehearsed a couple of new Candy Thieves songs. During this period they wrote 'Homeboy', 'I'll be your Saint' & 'Pilot', which would later appear pretty much unchanged as Adorable songs, and sent these three tracks out to twenty labels. They had a good live review in Melody Maker, and a write-up tipping us as 'one to watch' from the industry magazine Music Week. As they were about to change the name to Adorable, Wayne quit.
