Lee Silversides

Canadian radio and record company executive from Saskatchewan. Started in radio as a DJ at his campus station CJUS in 1968 then after graduating from University of Saskatchewan worked at CHTK in Prince Rupert, BC. In 1972 returned to Saskatoon as was promo director for CFMC then following year became at CFQC, returning to CFMC as general manager in 1976. In 1977 he moved on from the radio business when Doug Chappell hired him as an Ontario promo rep for A&M Records Of Canada Limited. He left A&M in 1978 to join GRT Of Canada Ltd. as national promotion rep then a year later moved to Mushroom Records (5) working out of the offices of their distributor A&M. When Mushroom folded in 1980 he returned to the A&M fold. He followed Chappell to Island Records Of Canada Ltd. when it started May 1, 1984 and was Vice President until July 1986 when Chappell left and Silversides was promoted to President. In 1990 was made Executive Vice President of Island/A&M until November 1994 when he left to take position of President of Canadian Academy Of Recording Arts And Sciences and executive director of the Juno Awards until May 1998.
