Darren Crumity AKA Blackalack was born and raised in Houston, TX in the neighborhood Hiram Clarke. Originally in a group called Texas Tantrum, he appeared on many songs and albums of artist in the South. After the passing of his brother and artist mate, he launched his solo career. He is not a rapper; he is an entertainer, song writer, and producer. He started off rapping at school and in his neighborhood. He graduated from Madison High School in 2001 and soon after met Al-D with Screwed Up Click. Al-D introduced him to DJ Screw. DJ Screw introduced him to lots of record labels and that's when he started doing lots of features on other artist’s albums.
