Vajgat Orkesteri

The most popular dance orchestra of Greenland in the 50's and 60's, mainly playing polka music. The band was from the mining town Qullissat, that was at the time one of the largest cities in Greenland, but as the coal mining became unprofitable, the mine and entire city was closed down and evacuated in 1972. Vajgat Orkesteri re-united for the album "Vajgat Orkesteri 1988", recorded at a 1988 summer camp at the evacuated town. The 1988 line-up was Jens Hendriksen, Jens Leibhardt, Pele Møller, Rosa Wille, Stina Lange, Dorthea Olsen
