Big band singer from Mobile, Alabama, active in the late 1940s and early 1950s Lee attended the University of Alabama, sang on campus, and traveled to New York during the summers to sing at nightclubs. She eventually signed a recording contract, put her education on hold, and moved to New York. She accompanied several orchestras during the big band era, including the bands of Orrin Tucker (1946), Larry Clinton, Tex Beneke, Buddy Morrow, and Tommy Dorsey. In addition she worked on radio shows, and relocated to Chicago when she had a show on WBBM around 1950. In Chicago, after completing her education and with a growing family, she retired from her professional singing career, and began her second career as a polygraph examiner. She worked alongside with her husband at his security firm, John R. Davis & Associates. She continued the profession into the 1980s.
