DJ/Producer/Artist Tape Mastah Steph began his music career in 1988 splicing tapes and using a nostalgic method (pause mixing) to create beats. In 93, he advanced to programming and sequencing compositions on the EPS Ensoniq 8 track sampler. T.M.S entered and won his first DJ battle in 93' at Dynamic Sound and Lighting. His music production has been featured with various emcees such as Dave Dub (Endlessness in Machinery), Jendor, The Bedouin, Matt Gamin, Roughneck Jihad, Year of the Ox, Myka 9, J the Sarge, Nowaah Flood, Megabusive, and many more. Among many cassettes that circulated the scene, His first vinyl release in 2000 entitled "In Observance of Trial and Error" was an underground breakbeat album that penetrated the Bay Area hip hop scene during the Golden Era. He remains passionate about spinning hip-hop, funk, classics, electro, reggae, neo soul, rock, punk, downtempo, original production, instrumentals, from emcee battles to B-boy competitions and more.
