Rob Smith (24)

Rob is a singer/songwriter from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He was born in a small town in Ontario in 1969 and educated at Carleton University in Ottawa. He has traveled extensively in Asia and Europe. Rob has played folk music as a busker on the streets of London and Amsterdam and punk rock with a bar band in Korea. After graduating from university, he spent two years teaching English as a second language, first in Thailand and then in South Korea. His debut recording was 'Doghouse', a six song cassette released in 1991, that was followed by 'Dry as A Desert' in 1993. The earlier work presents a more stripped down sound, with mostly solo acoustic guitar and voice, and some jazz piano on a few songs. The musical influences have always been varied, mostly in the folk, blues vein. In 2000 he released 'Incubator' on CD and was active on the local circuit until 2004 when his traces vanished.
