Bernard Kalua

Born around 1950, Hawaiian musician Bernard Kalua has been a land leader, composer and arranger. During his school years he played ukulele and then at age 15 moved to guitar. The next year he was a professional entertainer. Along with Da Blahlas he was appearing at Waiakea Village Resort in Hilo. He played and sang on Da Blahlas' self-titled Da Blahlas album which was released in 1976 and sang on their Ka Lua O Ka Manawa album which was released in 1978. By 1979 he was leading his own group, Ho‘onanea which was released the Nanea album on the Pumehana Records label in 1979. At that time he was just 19 years old. In 1999 he released his Pledge Of Love album.
