David Bankston

Folk, jazz, and classical musician, songwriter, guitarist, vocalist, and music educator (Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Music at Coastal Carolina University) Bankston’s musical career began in the early 1970s in the folk rock band Manchild (16). He later transitioned into theatrical and operatic singing, and holds holds DMA and MM degrees from the University of South Carolina in Vocal performance. He received a BS degree from Louisiana State University and is an alum of San Francisco Opera's Merola Program and the Houston Grand Opera Studio. He has also recorded and performed of original compositions in the genres of Americana, contemporary folk music and jazz.
