Marcia Barcellos

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, she took dance lessons with Halina Biernacka, a soloist at the Warsaw Opera who emigrated to that country after the war. At 17, she had the opportunity to come to France to audition. Alvin Nikolaïs then retained her to participate in a summer internship at the Charterhouse of Villeneuve lez Avignon, at the end of which she was selected to join the National Center for Contemporary Dance in Angers in 1978. She founded Lolita collective in 1981 with other artists. In 1986, microphone in hand, Marcia joins the group Tuxedomoon for the Holywars tour in Europe.
