Lauren White is an extremely talented 20-year old from Texas. Lauren White began singing as a small child. Her parents marveled at the talent she possessed and encouraged her to sing. She began voice lessons at Masters Touch School of Music in Grapevine, Texas when she was in fourth grade, and sang in choir in Middle School. Singer and pianist, Mark Carroll, took Lauren under his wing in High School and developed her lower range while exposing her to the standards and ballads that she grew to love. She found herself at home on the stage with supporting roles in Foot Loose and Peter Pan. During her junior year Lauren began working with Nora Jones’ voice coach and friend, Rosana Eckert, jazz vocalist and professor at the University of North Texas. With a vast vocal rage, and clear rich tones, Lauren is often being compared to famous vocalists Linda Ronstadt and Karen Carpenter. With each note one feels the depth of expression in her soul, heartache, and the sweet lively innocence of her up tempo selections. Inspired by jazz artists Natalie Cole, Shirley Horn, Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, Nora Jones, Michael Buble, and Diana Krall, Lauren captures the essence of jazz and combines it with her unique, individual style. The original songs that she shares on her first album are a joint effort with her father, and although she loves the standards, Lauren is constantly inspired and working on new songs. Lauren's first album released in 2007, features a wide array of songs, the album opens with a Billie Holiday styled tune “My One & Only”, then drops to the darker overtones of the Anthony Wilson arranged “Love For Sale”, and transitions into a swinging “Mack The Knife”. This album also includes memorable covers of popular songs like “Blue Bayou” (Roy Orbison), “Superstar” (Carpenters), and to the country influenced, “Why They Call It Falling” (Lee Ann Womack). Lauren White also displays an impressive talent for song writing with three original songs here including a retro-ish “Do You Remember”, a heartbreaking ballad “All I Do Is Cry” and an up-tempo “Brand New Love”.
