Eszter Fontana (b. 21 April 1948, Budapest), also known as "Eszter Gát," is a Hungarian musicologist, restorer, and researcher of antique musical instruments, museum curator, and pedagogue, Professor Emeritus at the University of Leipzig's Institut für Musikwissenschaft. Often appears as Liner Notes author. She worked as curator and head of musical instruments and clocks at Hungarian National Museum in Budapest (1974 to 1990) and taught organology, acoustics, and paleography at the University of Leipzig, where she also served as the Musikinstrumentenmuseum director (1995 to 2013). Eszter served as the president of CIMCIM (International Committee for Museums and Collections of Instruments and Music) between 1998 and 2004.
