Dogs On Valium

US rock group (1995-2003). Dogs On Valium was an original three-piece rock band from San Francisco with a knack for playing hooky power-pop music in the vein of Train, Crowded House, or the Wallflowers. In Eight years Dogs On Valium has released three CDs: Spoiled Little Child, co produced by Night Ranger's Jeff Watson, Something For Everyone, mixed by Chris Issak's Mark Needham, and The Salt Mine Collection produced by Abshalom Jacob. Shelter from the Stars, a track from Something For Everyone, reached no. 1 on Garageband.com's pop-rock charts. An impressive feat considering that Jerry Harrison's (Talking heads) Garageband.com had over 95,000 songs on their site. Dogs On Valium's songs have appeared on San Francisco's KFOG, KOME, KKLC, KZST, KRSH, KRQR, KPFA, and many European and, American college radio stations. DOV's music was also featured in national compilation CD's and in the feature-film "Jerks". In 1997 BAM magazine voted them One of the ten best unsigned bands in the Bay Area. Due to radio rotation, many press articles, and a loyal a fan base, DOV became a top club draw in California and its neighboring states. During exhaustive touring years in the USA, the band played shows with many notable acts including: Train, Night Ranger, Mr. Big, Counting Crows, Edgar Winter, The Tubes, Flock Of Seagulls, Box Set, Noel Redding, Leslie West, Tommy Castro, and Pete Best to name a few... In 1998 the band played an extensive European tour, performing in numerous countries to screaming festival crowds of 10,000 and more, and received rave reviews from the European press. The singles: When I Die, and Love Will Come had been in strong rotation on eastern European radio for over a month prior to the band's appearances, helping to increase independent CD sales. In 1999, a 30 minute documentary of the band was aired on TV stations across the United States. The most recent addition to the DOV lineup was a former member of the nationally touring and Bammie award-winning nouveau swing band Lee Press-on and the Nails. With their polished radio-friendly sound, mature songwriting, boy-band good looks, and powerful dynamic stage-show, Dogs On Valium was seemingly ready for anything. The band officially disbanded in 2003, but continued to release music from the its deep vaults until 2009. DOV also reunited for one night only shows in 2005, and 2010. The band's founding member and Bass player Larry Santos Lim died at the age of 34 in 2004.
