Miss Baby Sol is a Congolese-born British vocalist and songwriter who grew up in West London along with her mother and sister. She showed an interest in music from an early age and began singing live at music events around London in the 2000’s. In the late 2000’s she featured as a vocalist on a number of recordings including with UK rapper Ironik and Italian producer Mop Mop . As vocalist and co-writer she recorded with UK musician and producer Black Einstein on ‘Common Ground’ (2010), UK band Lazy Habits on ‘Memory Banks’ (2010), Phil Asher on ‘We Can Make It Happen’ (2011). In 2011 Miss Baby Sol released her debut solo album ‘Before I Begin (The Journey)’ - a collection of her own songs fusing elements of soul, folk, jazz and reggae and backed by live musicians including a horn section. ‘Always’ was the first single, released along with an accompanying visual.to the dub-step remix version by Stinkabell. The follow up single was ‘No No’ along with its colourful official music video. ‘No No’ was included in ‘Untold Songs: Volume One’, a compilation album released to raise awareness and funds for Amnesty International's ‘Stop Violence Against Women’ campaign. The third single ‘She Cries’ was written as a reflection of the Rawandan genocide and released as a visual and EP. The ‘She Cries’ EP featured remixes by Nutty P , Riffiosso and Mr Soundz and was also in support of Amnesty International. Miss Baby Sol featured as an actor in Free Seed’s ‘Los Jack Machine’ (2012), and The Blockheads ‘‘Boys Will Be Boys’ (2013) alongside Toyah Willcox, Jud Charlton, Anabel Barnston, David Westhead, Topper Headon, Lee Thompson, Barrie Masters. Session and touring back-up vocalist work include with Laura Mvula , The Noisettes , Paloma Faith and Florence and the Machine . She has performed at Glastonbury and had a solo feature at Paloma Faith’s concert at London’s The O2 arena (2013). In 2014 Miss Baby Sol co-wrote and sang the ‘Now’s The Time’ single release for the successful ‘No More Page 3’ campaign. Her follow-up solo compositions include the 2015 social commentary song ‘The Future’ featuring Speech Debelle, and its accompanying music video by Global Faction, and ‘On The Dole’ released as a live studio recording at The Preservation Room in 2016. She was also the featured vocalist on Speech Debelle’s single release ‘The Work’ (2016). Her co-writer and vocal work spans the music genres of dance, electronic, folk, hip hop, house, indie rock, jazz, rap and soul, and include the releases; ‘Bouge’ (2011) with Ulranian DJ and producer Sagan, ‘Lost In Your Love’ (2012) with UK producer Redlight , ‘Get Down’ (2013) with UK duo Torqux , ‘Crossing’ (2018) with UK artist Lazy Habits, ‘London Girl’ (2018) with Dutch DJ and producer Sander Kleinenberg, ‘Better Days’ with UK musician Shay D (2018), ‘Basement (2019) with New York City DJ and producer Dean Mickoski .
