Fro-Tee Slips

Fro-Tee Slips were founded in 1989 by Sascha Döstrup (*Dose*, guitar, vocals) and Jens Locher (*Hose*, drums )... The *stupid* name came from two guys sitting on the beach and making jokes about a boy in slips made of frottee, something only babies wear. The next day, in Hose´s room, the two boys were drinking beer and Mum entered the room with lots of freshly washed clothes... and there were a lot of slips made of frottee... The name was born. The first gig was at a party in the living room of a friend in 1990. After that they sent demo tapes with music of other bands, to get some gigs. As they noticed they were too bad of musicians to cover songs, they had to write their own songs. A girl called Skrollan joined the band (playing bass) and in 1991 they recorded their first single called "Ein bischen Dreck" followed by the first album "Jugend forscht-" in 1994. Shortly afterwards Krümel (guitar) joined the band and in 1995 they took 4th place at the John Lennon Talent Award. A part of the award was a record deal, studio time and a release on Impact Records. Oddly enough, though the band had won this award for excellence, at this time people were going to Fro-Tee Slips shows because it was funny to watch the musicians vomit from the stage or fall down from the stage because of alcohol and the partying was too hard.... The album called "Hey" came out in 1998. Some time later, because of some -H- influenced differences, Krümel had to leave the band and the next shows were played with changing guitar players (Timo, Jan-Igor-Ferres, Olli Lenz) but in 1999, a new guitar player, Michi, came into the band.... an old punk from the west coast. In the midst of this, they learned to start the real party during their shows after they entered the stage and not hours before... so the quality was pushed... In 2000, Skrollan left the band and was replaced in 2002 by Naie. He still plays the bass today, except in 2004 when he was replaced by Christian Edler because Naie lived for a few months in USA. In 2004, they released "König für einen Tag" on CD + Vinyl on JamTonic Records and their next release will be in October of this year (2010)... if they have the money! Fro-Tee Slips is a (fun-) punk band who like 3 or 5 chord songs, put in a nice melody, with some oh oh oh´s, hey hey hey´s or yeah yeah yeah´s... FTS has no political mission, but that does not mean they have no political opinion... one thing is certain - they hate Nazi´s!!! AND they hate all manner of intolerance, even if it is the intolerance of some brave citizen or of some shitty pseudo "politically correct" punk... But they feel there are enough bands singing about all that shit so they sing about their problems, feelings or just satirical stories from their lives!!!
