American singer / songwriter, bassist and producer. Born November 30, 1953 in Blanchard, Oklahoma. Died December 12, 2005 in Arrington, Tennessee. He moved to Los Angeles, CA in spring of 1973, and then moved to Nashville, TN in January 1991. A Crooked Oak High School graduate, Pierce was playing bass and guitar for local bands in the 1970s when he met singer/songwriter Jimmie Spheeris at an after-show party in Oklahoma City. Pierce went on to work with Spheeris as a recording session and touring artist from 1973 to 1980, and wrote extensive guitar tablature regarding the tunings Spheeris used throughout his career. Pierce became a session guitarist, playing with Jackson Browne, Carole King and Joni Mitchell. He toured with country singer Juice Newton, penning several of her hit songs and appearing in her videos. His legacy is CedarHouse, a state-of-the-art production facility dedicated to helping new artists create music without the pressures of working with a major label.
