Death/doom metal band from the Netherlands. - - - - - - - - - - Originally formed back in December 1989. Inspired by the slow and melodic parts of Black Sabbath & Trouble, and the heavy parts of Celtic Frost & Obituary, Mystic Charm plays heavy doom riffs combined with melodic riffs and ultra rough female vocals. After recording the "Endless Sickness" demo tape back in 1992 (which was sold over 500 copies) Mystic Charm recorded the "Lost Empire" 7" EP which was released by the Belgian label Shiver in February 1993 (1000 copies). Due to excellent reviews at home and abroad, and outstanding live reviews Mystic Charm signed a record deal with Shiver back in September 1993. The debut CD "Shadows of the Unknown" was released in May 1994 and received good reviews everywhere (sold nearly 3000 copies). In preparation for recording of the second album Mystic Charm had a drummer switch, Gerard van Assen was replaced by Mark v/d Bend. This all occurred in August 1995. After nearly 6 months Mystic Charm had the final break up due to huge personal problems between the female singer & drummer and the guitar player. In the year 2000 guitar player Herwig Schuiling and bass player Gerlach Timmer teamed up with some well-known local musicians to record their latest 7-track mini-CD entitled "Hell Did Freeze Over" Mystic Charm trade in the well-known female vocals for an even more rough male vocalist. This mini-CD was recorded at Vision Sound Engineering studio, Heino, The Netherlands. In 2001 drummer Hans was replaced by the original drummer of 1989 Mark van de Bovenkamp.
