Wilson played professionally in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, New Orleans and Seattle for 15 years. For thirteen years, he was the arranger/pianist/conductor for the famous pop vocal group The Lettermen, making recordings and touring on the nightclub and concert circuit. He has also worked with such notables as Nat King Cole, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin and Judy Garland. Touring many months of the year with The Lettermen became a hardship, so Wilson left to move to Rexburg, Idaho to take a position in the music department at Ricks College (now known as BYU Idaho). There, he worked many years with the Showtime Company and Dance Band, and his passion, Sound Alliance Jazz band. He also taught theory and jazz piano. As a Professor, his teaching specialty was Trombone, Piano, Synthesizer and Organ. He retired from BYU-I in 2001, and continued on to play in jazz bands and other gigs until the time of his passing in 2022.
