American songwriter. Born January 24, 1914 in Hartford, Connecticut Died August 26, 2007 in New York City, New York. Also known as Sanford Greene, Sandford Green, and Sandy Green. Charted with "Play Me Hearts and Flowers" (co-written by Manny Curtis) by Johnny Desmond in 1955. He joined the Vitaphone Corporation as a 19-year-old songwriter, commuting from Connecticut to the studio in Brooklyn. He composed songs for more than 35 musical short subjects between 1934 and 1937. Very few of the songs from film shorts were published. Green also contributed incidental music for several Warner Bros. features, including the Bette Davis film "Kid Galahad" and "The Case of the Black Parrot." He was the conductor of a touring company of High Button Shoes, in which his wife was a performer. He worked as an arranger and musical director all his life. Sandy wrote the title tune of the Warner Brothers carton Bingo Crosbyana (1936). His last work for the public to see is his appearance in "The Dawn of Sound" (2007) documentary that is part of The Jazz Singer 3 DVD set.
