Ireland, 1979. Born into a musical family, Owen Kilfeather studied piano with Kathleen O’Hara, guitar with Nicholas O’Sullivan, harmony and with Joan Carles Sender, and counterpoint and analysis with Patricia Balmaceda. Since moving to Barcelona in 2004, he has worked with a number of avant-rock, hardcore, choral and free improvisation groups, and has composed scores for theatrical works and film. As an instrumentalist, he sings and plays synthesisers, guitars and percussion. As a composer for Discordian Records, he writes for various groups contained therein, among them Filthy Habits Ensemble, Sin Anestesia and Discordian Community Ensemble and a quintet under his own name; his music itself bearing the imprint of veins such as baroque, Persian and modernist music, rock, serialism, the avant-garde, vocal polyphony, noise, exotica and free improvisation. He also writes fiction and has translated works of Julio Cortázar and Samuel Beckett into English and Catalan, respectively.
