Cortext has been putting pen to page since 2000, developing and honing his lyrical style and performance. Taking his roots in Denmark, South West WA, he migrated to Perth in 2009 to pursue greater opportunities and expand his musical repetoire. Since then he has collaborated with many talented and well-recognised hip hop artists, from his city and nationwide. Having shared the stage with the likes of Drapht, Downsyde, 360, Illy, Immortal Technique, Atmosphere, Masta Ace and KRS-One, he has honed his abilities and presence under some of the culture's best. Having released consistent material over the last 3 and a half years (One LP - Champion Music, two mixtapes - Ill Recognise Ill and Streaming Consciousness 2.0 and countless features and internet exclusives), the stage is set for Cortext to expand his outreach across the country and the world. His artistic philosophy is firmly rooted in philanthropy and charitable work. His recent 'Streaming Consciousness 2.0' mixtape launch/fundraiser raised over $2000 for Oxfam's 'Close the Gap' campaign. He has also worked with the Oaktree foundation and recently traveled to Sierra Leone, West Africa, to assist OrphFund in their charitable efforts their helping orphaned and abandoned children. Cortext hopes to make a positive mark on his culture and his planet, and keep inspiring independent thought and creativity through his art and his actions.
