Josef Eduard Ploner

Austrian organist, composer, chorus master and teacher. He was the leading figure in Tyrolean musical life at the time of National Socialism (already illegally sworn in to Adolf Hitler in 1937) and after WWII has been called a "Nazi agitator in word and tone". A 2xCD set of his works, which concealed his political views, had to be withdrawn after public protest and re-released with a new booklet. b.: Feb. 4, 1894 in Sterzing, Austrian Hungarian Empire (today Vipiteno, Italy) d.: Jun. 23, 1955 in Innsbruck, Austria.
