Keith Atkinson

Australian jazz reedist. b. Greenwich, NSW. 24 March, 1915 First professional work aged 16 when he joined Theo Walters' band at the Bondi Esplanade for nine months. Later with Sunny Brooks, Al Hammett & Jack Spooner. Joined the Frank Coughlan orchestra for the opening of the Trocadero ballroom in April 1936 and stayed for two years. Later worked with Jim Davidson Orchestra, and was in the AIF Entertainment Unit which toured to the Middle East & New Guinea during WWII. After the war joined the Colgate-Palmolive Radio Unit, and later the A.B.C. Dance Orchestra led by Jim Gussey.
