American big band baritone vocalist. Born April 12, 1923. Died July 8, 1993 (70 years of age). Tommy sang with Jan Garber's Orchestra followed by Jerry Gray's Orchestra as well as solo. He charted with tJan Garber and His Orchestra on "Gypsy" in 1946. The song hit #14 on the U.S charts. Tommy joined The Modernaires in 1949 and remained with the group until a year before his death in 1993. In 1950, as part of the group, he backed up Frank Sinatra on "Sorry" and "The Old Master Painter" and on the groups last charted recording, "April In Paris" in 1956. Tommy sang in several popular movies such as "Angels With Dirty Faces," "Bells of St. Mary's," and "Going My Way," the last two with Bing Crosby. He also sang with the bands of Frankie Masters and Benny Goodman.
