Guitarist and vocalist from Florida, US, who played guitar in the heavy metal band Siren during the 1980s, and created his own version of Siren in 2005, in which he is the vocalist. The heavy metal band Siren reactivated in 2016, so there are now two versions of Siren which exist amicably. "I started Siren in the early 80's with Hal Dunn and Mike Martinez. I came up with the name Siren as I am a fan of greek mythology and it had multiple meanings. As we began recording Metro mercenary and Iron Coffins it was the same team of writers. Ed Aborn and Doug Lee. I would write all the Music and Ed or Doug would write the lyrics with the exception of "Over the Rainbow" which was the only song I wrote Music and Lyrics. As time went by we began to have a difference of direction. I felt That I wanted to be more Progressive Rock and they were more straight Metal. I felt metal was too restricting to play for my vision. We went our separate ways and they continued on with the Siren name and recorded "Dead of Night" a solid demo. I was called back into Siren In 1986 to travel to Germany to Record " No Place Like Home" without Ed Aborn. A key writing element was Missing. I had no say in Band matters as Doug was running the Band.I was opposed to the cover for the album and just wanted a black album with the logo. The album was finished and again we went our separate ways. Siren continued without Ed or myself. They produced one more album and were finished as a band. In 2005 I created a new Siren with a new logo as the Metal logo would not fit to what I was doing musically. I became a singer/songwriter.My old friend Craig Miller, former sound man with Siren Created the new Logo and all the artwork On my First Album "Don'T Mind" in 2007. My second album " You Never Noticed" was released in 2009. In 2009 I filed for the registered Trademark for the name Siren.I have had joint rights to the name sharing with The Siren Music Festival till 2019. They no longer exist and in 2019 I have the sole registered trademark. During the time of 2018 I was contacted by Ed to reform the band and go play in Germany with Doug. I declined to go and told Ed that he could do what he wanted with the old Siren Music. They have since released a compilation album and a new album. Ed and I are still very close friends to this day. I helped them with their album and He and Todd Grubbs worked on My album "Beyond the Rainbow". Ed on rough mixes and Todd plays guitar on the entire album.I decided to call My project Rob Phillips Siren as a sign of respect for Ed. I did not want to reinvent myself or name again. They know I wish them the best for success. The new album is a progressive Rock with multiple genres blended into a unique and original style. Mike Cupino was with me from the beginning in 2005 as a drummer/Producer and we have co written all the songs on all three albums. Chris Bonelli on bass and Chip Gardner on Keys joined in 2008 and are on the Last two albums. Todd Grubbs was brought in on This last album and did an amazing job recording all the guitar parts as all the music was already written for this album. Ed Aborn pulled all the tracks that were in the can and brought them back to life. So Today there are two Sirens. Still writing music is our Lifelong dream. Thank You and I hope you enjoy the Music of both Sirens. Different but together. Rob Phillips"
