"Tater" Pete Hunter

Inducted into the Country Music DJ Hall of Fame (1979). Popular disc jockey in the Houston, Texas area. At seventeen years old, he had five programs on the radio each day. Billed himself back then as the "Hillbilly Boy". By 1953, he had penned over 50 tunes. Made his recording debut in 1949 for the 4-Star Label in Houston. This record, "Wrapped in Cellophane", was released the following year on the Freedom label. Born in Springfield, Illinois.
