Innovation is his trademark, creativity his m.o., and although any new musical expression usually takes a while to take hold, Underworld/Capitol Records recording artist Hami is carving out his own territory on the musical landscape. Indeed, borrowing the title of one of the exciting tracks on "The Funky Descendant," his recently-released premier album, you could use the tag `new frontier' to describe the blend of jazz, hip hop, R&B and classical music that forms the basis for Hami's dynamic debut. While the general public is just discovering the talents of this Los Angeles-born music man (who writes, produces, arranges, sings and plays fourteen instruments), Hami is well-known among the city's rap and hip-hop community.
