Dorothy Pierce

Dorothy Lee Carter, (born, October 8, 1943 - died, May 14, 2015) landed her first job with Continental Motors before being approached by Berry Gordy, Jr. to join Motown. In the Motown era Dorothy also was the epitome of Motown Style. She exemplified her style from her hair, to her smile, to her fashionable clothing, and very good taste. She was Supreme! She was an excellent seamstress; she could do hair, and organize things always in a perfect manner. She excelled in all she did. After Motown she was the Program Director for The Academy for Gifted Children. She was a dedicated Administrator providing and overseeing an early childhood education curriculum, again excelling, making it a stellar program. "Dorothy, that’s what she did." Dorothy got on board with Amtrak in 1985 and was the "go to" person for her region. Dorothy was widely respected, loved her job, always professional and dependable. Dorothy was employed with Amtrak for 28 dedicated years before retiring in 2013.
