Vic Freeze

Born to teen age parents, who decided to keep their son, stay together and raise him, Vic Thompson (Vic Freeze) comes from the hard work of his parents progression to make a better living for themselves and their children. As a child, Vic naturally gravitated toward music because of constant relocation. From Kindergarten to 7th Grade, he never went to the same school. So, when not playing sports, Vic spent nights blacked out with old school tape deck legends. From Slick Rick storylines to LL Cool J love songs, to Run DMC melodies, Freeze emerced himself in music to forget drab surroundings of an apartment complex or the peer pressures of youth. Throughout his teenage years, after moving to a more culturally diverse spot in Bedford Heights, Ohio, Vic would get the desire to start taking the poetry he was writing and expand the concepts to create little hooks and write raps. So how was Vic Freeze born? The beat machine had the same 4- bar loop playing because they couldn’t save the track. The mic was hung down from the ceiling like a punching bag. For hours, he and his college roommate, Paul Richardson aka Paulie Rhyme, would work on their craft to hone the art of songwriting, rhyming and performing. As a result, after some dedication and hard work, Vic Freeze has shared the same stage with legends such as: Krs-One, Big Daddy Kane, Wu-Tang, and Talib Kweli. Early on he gained respect on Cleveland mixtapes, performances at underground clubs, and local airplay. But in late 2005, Vic put together a collection of material called Watch For Ice on The Bridge Vol.1. The unique but polished sound garnered knock and respect in the streets, as he sold 1000 cds out of his trunk. After touring in late 2008, Vic recorded the single "Now” for DJ Green Lantern's MySpace Invasion Mixtape series. His first national mixtape, it showed that not only hip hop heads but mainstream music appreciated his sincerity and feeling behind his songs.Then came "The Jose Mateo Tour" in the spring of 2010. The 5-state tour is when many noticed he was turning the corner. Now with many projects on deck including: a solo release "Reluctant Star", a collab project with tourmates Paulie Rhyme and Rey Resurreccion, another EP slotted for release in Winter 2012, and a host of guest appearances there seems to be no limit for this up and coming artist. Vic Freeze is a veteran emcee with a fresh flow who brings the streets and the world together over rugged hip-hop tracks. A pure lyricist who emits positivity through trial and tribulation but touches everyone with honesty and his “live before you speak” attitude.
