Michael Feldman (2)

American conductor and artistic director. Feldman was invited to work at St. Luke’s in Greenwich Village, New York and in 1974 founded the St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble. He also created the Children’s Free Opera in 1976 as a program for that organization. As artistic director, he led the Orchestra of St. Luke’s. After he was fired from St. Luke’s in the 1990s, he conducted ballet tours in China, worked with a symphony in New Zealand, and at the New York Collegium. He returned to teaching music at age 62 then spent two seasons conducting at St. Veronica’s.
