Семен Стучевский

Russian pianist (born 1894 in Kherson – died 1986) Stuchevsky worked as a professional pianist from 1909, accompanying silent movies in cinemas. In 1914, he graduated from the Kherson music school, where he studied the piano under V. Ya. Egenberg. From 1918 to 1920 he studied at the Odessa Conservatory. Between 1921 and 1924 and then again from 1934 to 1959 Stuchevsky served as concertmaster of the Bolshoi Theatre of the USSR. On recordings, he accompanied many vocal stars of the Bolshoi, including Leonid Sobinov, Grigori Pirogov, Sergei Migai, Irina Arkhipova, Valeria Barsova, Sergei Lemeshev, Natalya Shpiller, and others. From 1950 he toured with Ivan Petrov.
