John Garza is a Texas Singer, Songwriter, Musician, from Houston Texas. (For the Irving, Texas bassist, use John Garza (3)) His career started as a child performing at Houston Theatre Center in several summer shows. At the age of 15 he joined a band that later became the Midnight Shift. John did a short stint as a singer for the band St Laufren. After leaving the band John moved to Austin Texas and began a career as a solo performer. Playing at every local venue in Austin from 1974 to 1977. John won the Kerrville New Folk showcase in 1976 and later recorded three songs on the BF Deal Sampler record. In Santa Cruz, California John was the singer for a Fusion Rock band called State of Siege, later in Flagstaff, Arizona he was in the band Something Blue. Leaning back to his career in Theatre from childhood, John performed in several productions, as Ron in Hair, opening the show as solo performer in Aquarius, later he performed as Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar and two different performances as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, in 1999 in Flagstaff AZ and more recently, 2011, at Lions Gate Amphitheatre in Farmington NM. At present John is in Durango CO and maintains a home studio where he records electronic ambient music and acoustic songs.
