Otto Benzon

January 17, 1856 Copenhagen – May 16, 1927 Copenhagen Danish writer and poet, remembered outside of his country as the lyricist of a dozen or so art songs by Edvard Grieg. His productions are especially well-known comedy plays. Examples of works include Surrogater (1881), Tilfældigheder (1886), En skandale (1884), Sportsmænd (1891), Foraar og efteraar (1914). Some of the works are light comedies and proverbs, some are social satires.
