Emmett Garner, Jr.

US soul singer, producer, and record company executive from Chicago, Illinois. Garner was the first Regional Promo Director for Curtom Record Company, Inc. when it was formed in 1968. In 1970 he was hired as Promotion Manager of Chicago distributor Royal Disc Distributing, Inc. In 1973 he left a post at London Records, Inc. to become Vice President of Promotions at Curtom and concurrently was also National Promo Director for Marv Stuart's M.S. Productions (2). In 1974 he was made VP of R&B Promotion at Mayfield and Stuart's newly formed Gemigo Records. In early 1976 he resigned from Curtom/Gemigo to form his own publishing company Trina Music Co., Inc. / Trina Music, but remained associated with Curtom as an independent consultant. In 1979 Garner joined LAX Records for marketing and promotion duties in the Midwest region. By the mid-1980s he mainly worked as a producer in Chicago, often in partnership with Nat Meadows.
