Canadian broadcaster, technician, director, and producer from Toronto, Ontario. Started out as a radio broadcasting technician in 1958 and became a producer at CBC in 1968. He helped his good friend and co-worker Alex Trebek get into game shows in the US but declined to follow and stayed in Canada. Shortly after he started working in TV in 1972 he was asked to produce a comedy show and lined up a cast, but the show was cancelled before airing - one of the writers, Lorne Michaels, then pitched the idea to NBC and the cast Augerman assembled became part of the initial line-up for Saturday Night Live. He continued with TV and retired in 2004. A longtime fan, Augerman struck up a close friendship with Stan Kenton in the mid-1970s and has been involved in many Kenton retrospectives
