Vilhelm Hedlund

Swedish folk musician and shoemaker, born 26 May 1868 in Enviken parish, died there 7 August 1946. He began to play the violin in earnest at the age of 20, but soon became a frequently hired guest fiddler in his home parish. Hedlund's songs, polskor, waltzes, walking songs and more, usually lack virtuoso drills and embellishments and are instead characterized by a simplisity. Among his songs, a number of waltzes in minor note are especially noticeable. The foremost among Hedlund's songs are published in "Svenska låtar" (band 4 Dalarna, 1926) and in Karl-Erik Forsslund's "Med Dalälven från källorna till havet" (1929).
