Dee Brown (born February 29, 1908 in Alberta, Louisiana; died December 12, 2002 in Little Rock, Arkansas) was an American novelist and historian. His best known work, the book "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee" (1970) has inspired songs with the same name by Buffy Sainte-Marie and The Waterboys as well as albums by Gila (2) and Yoriyos. The 1973 Gila album adapted passages from the book as lyrics for three of their songs.
