Thierry Leroy (2)

French producer and promoter born 1963 in Villiers-sur Yonne, deceased August 2009. Not a professional in the music business, Thierry Leroy worked as a TV technician in Paris. He was a great admirer and specialist of the golden age of 1970s rock, prog, psyche, Zappa, and the so called “Canterbury scene”. He became friend with Daevid Allen and from the early 1990s to 2006 he organised a few concerts for Gong and Daevid Allen in his region. To promote the music he loved Thierry Leroy founded the association “La Voix Du Fromage”, hosted several radio shows, wrote articles in the music press, and created the record company KZL and the label Legend Music in 1991. He was behind the music festival L’Alambic Electrique in 2005 in his hometown, which was a great musical success but a financial disaster. While trying to organize a second edition of his festival, due to happen in August 2009, Thierry Leroy was very affected by the lack of support from the music business and the public, and the recurring financial difficulties that ultimately led to the cancellation of the festival at the last minute. He committed suicide in August 2009.
