Herbie Marks (1923 - 1980) was an Australian accordion player and band leader.. He also played piano occasionally. Herbie Marks was born in Rooty Hill, Sydney, NSW. Coming from a show business family, by the time he was six years of age, he was playing mandolin for Harry Clay's Vaudeville in Sydney. Having taught himself to play the accordion at the age of nine, he took lessons from an American called Arbie Hartmann. Progressing through his career, and in addition to being an accordion player and master of the instrument, he was talented showman and magician. He was a music arranger and also composed music for films and commercials. Leading The Herbie Marks Trio, he recorded the albums, "Music for Your Simcha" and "Herbie Goes Hawaiian". His solo albums include "Love from Rome" and "Here come d' Boogie Man". He died on December 5, 1980. He was married to Hanne Marks (nee Kreutzer)
