Seppo Salminen is an award winning producer/drummer/engineer based in Toronto, Canada. His work has been extensive and has included everything from drummer and multi-percussionist, to engineer and producer, to custom drum set builder and teacher/clinician. His work includes not only original music for local and international artists, but also for corporate video productions, commercials, and radio programs. At his studio, RNM Production, his focus has always been to help the up and coming artists struggling to be heard, and has produced music in a complete scope and variety of styles. He has received the CRYSTAL AWARD (the industries highest honours) for advertising excellence, for his work in producing a set of radio ads in 2002. CD’s that he has worked on have been nominated for JUNO AWARDS as well as ‘Album of the Year’ awards. He has released his own solo CD project ‘Joe’s Conscience’, and is currently working on a new follow up CD . Seppo has also written musical ‘Soundscapes’ for Sony Canada (retail division). He continues his work at RNM Productions, as writer, producer and engineer, as well as teacher of his recording arts program. Seppo is also a seasoned drummer and multi percussionist. He has collected over 35 CD album titles to his name. His list of credits include fours albums with The Penny Merchants, with whom he toured and recorded with for 12 years. Seppo is currently working on his second solo album of original music under the Joe's Conscience banner, and is recording and playing with The Roaming Coyotes. Seppo has been an influential teacher and clinician for over thirty years. He has worked with youth groups, high school and university classes, and continues to teach privately at his home studio. His students have included beginners of all ages, and seasoned industry professionals. A highlight of his teaching career came in 2015 when he travelled with 'Bridging Worlds Through Music', to Tanzania Africa. Seppo spent 10 days at a local elementary school teaching students, teachers, and community members percussion, drums, and music theory. His technician and custom drum work has led him to work with a variety of top professional drummers, some of which have included Charlie Watts of The Rolling Stones, and Johnny Fay of The Tragically Hip for his 2016 national tour. He has held drum/percussion clinics for various organizations and manufacturers, including Paiste Cymbals, Sabian Cymbals, Simmons Electronics, Zen-Drum, Evans Drum Heads, and TRS Custom Drums. He is also a craftsman, vintage drum expert, and custom drum designer of over thirty years, with his own line of drums; TRS Custom Drums.
