Started in 2011 in Brooklyn NY as the one-woman solo project of bassist/multi-instrumentalist Dana Schechter (Swans/The Angels of Light/Gnaw/Wrekmeister Harmonies), the band became a duo in 2015 with the addition of Portland-based drummer Ashley Spungin (Taurus/Purple Rhinestone Eagle), followed by Andy Patterson, formerly of the band Subrosa (3). In 2022, Insect Ark officially relocated to Berlin, Germany, with drummer Tim Wyskida replacing Patterson.
