Об исполнителе:
Jimoh Ojindo was born in 1918 at Abeokuta, Western State of Nigeria. He received his early education in Lagos and went into apprenticeship in brick-laying, given his financial background. He was drawn to the music world because of his attractive voice, which he often used to sing on duty to alleviate his fatigue. Mr. Abu, the then Sakara Band leader, noticed this and persuaded him to join his group to enhance their performance. After some time playing in Lagos, he left the group and moved to Abeokuta where he joined another band led by Mr. Tiamiyu Aramoka. After a period of association, he left to establish his own Sakara Band Group. He made his early recordings with U.A.C. at Accra, Ghana. Later, he recorded with a group otherwise known as Record Dealers, Angard. He then made a series of recordings with 'DECCA GROUP' where he eventually transitioned to 'Ogun RECORDS'. It was here that he sang 'Owo-Ori', which emphasized the excessive tax-rate imposed on the people of Egba Land. This song brought him into the limelight when more than two thousand copies of these records were sold throughout Nigeria and West Africa. His hobbies include watching television and listening to music.
