Richard Waldemar

Austrian actor and singer, born 3 May 1869 in Vienna, Austria and died 27 December 1946 in Vienna, Austria. Waldemar started out as a railway employee, but then decided to became an actor. He made his debut in 1890 in Troppau, Silesia. Starting in 1893, he worked in Vienna. He performed on many different stages, but had his breakthrough at the Carl-Theater in Vienna where he was engaged between 1905 and 1918. Starting in 1902, he made more than 300 recordings, mostly performing in comedy scenes and singing comic couplets, then also a few songs from operettas such as "Ein Walzertraum" and "Die geschiedene Frau"), for labels such as Zonophone, Gramophone Concert Record, Columbia, Arena-Record, Janus, Kalliope, Favorit, Union, Scala-Record, and Parlophon.
