Wild Eyes hailed from Covina, California, but their music found its roots in the more melodic British shoegaze bands of the late ’80s and early ’90s. Band members Eric Padilla, Pat Mattola, Mason Owen, and Josh Magdangal got together in high school, forming the group in 2010. Over the next few years, they began playing in local clubs and were active in the L.A. alternative music scene. The band self-produced several releases, recorded in a garage and a rehearsal space, and began releasing music on the digital platform Bandcamp. Limited release vinyl editions followed. Like the best music in the genre, Wild Eyes' music balanced ambient effects, bursts of noise and straightforward pop melodies, or as Padilla himself described it "...Layered sonic waves woven in distortion." The quartet’s last release, 2013's "Lose Your Head", explored more psychedelic and garage-rock sounds. A much-anticipated full length release never materialized.
