The Frisian dance orchestra The Sambrinco's was founded in 1946 by accordionist Pier Sambrink (1926 - 1995) and his wife and accordionist Atty Dekens (2 April 1926 - 24 August 1963). Hans Stoelwinder then played drums. The Sambrinco's were very popular and played mainly on party nights. The trio also participated in performances by Tetman de Vries. Other musicians included Han Westhof (guitar), Geert Gorter (bass), Gerard van Weers (bass), Jacques Sambrink (son of Pier, double bass) and Joop van der Heide (drums, 1930-2005). Anneke Pater and Henk van der Heide sang various Frisian "top hits" together with the orchestra. One of those popular songs was It Dockumer lokaeltsje about the disappeared railway line between Dokkum and Drachten. The song was written by Anne van der Mark. Jaap de Graaf also sang with the Sambrinco's. From 1964 Anneke Douma sang along - first under the name Duma - until the dance orchestra stopped in 1966. Sambrink and Douma then opened a musical café on the Groninger Straatweg in Leeuwarden where they provided live music until 1972. Pier Sambrink died on December 20, 1995 in his hometown of Leeuwarden The Netherlands
