Об исполнителе:
Leeds goth rock band formed in 1987 by Jon Gibbon (guitar) from Bedale and Phil Cass (voice) from Otley. In 1988, new drummer Mike Melaugh was recruited and 20yo bassist Pete Griffin. Rehearsals took place on Burley Lodge Road in a red brick Victorian house occupied by Proud Flesh and soon progressed to Phil's Old School House in Otley at weekends after weekday jamming in a kit room on Hyde Park Corner. By this time, the band was being ferried around Leeds 6 by Phil in his black Jaguar XJS. Earlier tracks such as Barriers, Safe Positions and Some Enchanted Evening were reworked. New tracks were recorded somewhere in Leeds 6 and a 4 track demo tape released comprising Precious Time, She, Satellite, and Sirensong. A photoshoot was arranged by Annie Ritson at Kirkstall Abbey to accompany the demo. Record labels were talking but no deal was signed, comments from A&R generally included "good, but too Cult". Gigs were performed in 1989 and 1990 in Leeds and Bradford as follows: (Not a definitive list, mists of time...) 1989 First gig new line up in Leeds city centre below The Pig and Whistle pub supporting Exapes Bradford The Royal Standard Leeds Haddon Hall A forgotten gig with Another Cuba Bradford St. Georges Hall supporting Rosetta Stone and maybe The Ancestry Bradford 1 in 12 December 15th - Rubber Leather Plastic / Burning Skies Of Elysium A festival in Leeds was played 1990 Bradford 1 in 12 March 8th - Creaming Jesus / Rubber, Leather, Plastic Phil and Pete were fired in April or May 1990. Mike took over bass duties and a new singer arrived. One new indie rock track ended up on a 1 in 12 vinyl compilation entiled "A Nightmare On Albion St." (1992) and that was that! Phil has since managed The Beautiful South and his own record label in Otley / Leeds. Pete has lived outside England since 2003 and still dabbles in the music business as and when. Mike was last seen working in a London recording studio. No news about Jon.
