Iron Rite Mangle

American noise-rock / math rock band from Cape Cod, Missouri. Josh Newton, Joel Hamilton, David Silver and Richie Toomer grew up in the New England post-hardcore scene, playing shows together with their bands Glazed Baby, Chilmark and E.a.r.s.h.o.t. In 1994, they began writing IRM songs as a three piece, releasing a couple of split 7" records with Molly McGuire and Primitive/Sheilbound. In 1996, Josh Newton joined on 2nd guitar and they wrote and recorded many demos for an album that was never released, after the recordings were destroyed in the flood of Trainwreck Studios in Kansas City, MO. They played shows in the northeast and midwest with Dagobah, Neurosis, Idiot Flesh, Cheer Accident, Uz Jsme Doma, Shiner, Season to Risk, Molly McGuire, Pachinko, Zeni Geva, Esoteric, Coalesce, Arab on Radar, barkmarket, Craw, Today is The Day, and most importantly Wesley Willis and Quiet Riot. Joel Hamilton went on to play in Players Club, Book of Knots, and focused on producing at his Studio G 5000 studio in Brooklyn. David Silver played in Season to Risk, Boston street performance art group Human Shield, and Afuma, and toured with Josh Newton's Sie Lieben Maschinen. Josh played in and toured with dozens of bands; his primary projects are Shiner, Great Fire of 1666 and SLM. Richie played drums in Chilmark, then bass in IRM and Sie Lieben Maschinen. Other musicians who played with IRM for a show or longer were Paul Malinowski, Brandon Butler and Jason Blackmore.
