Rodrigo Barreno

Brazilian musician and bandleader, born June 16., 1912, died in March 1994. From Rio de Janeiro, studied at the Quito Conservatory of Music. His father gave him the first teachings and incorporated him into the Quimiag band at the age of 6. He was later part of the regiment band No. 2 Sucre and the municipal of Quito; he was part of the orchestras of Luis Aníbal Granja and Humberto Jácome, Siboney and Blacio Jr .; he founded and directed the Los Barrieros group. His best known compositions are „A la Valentina“ and „Marianata“ (typical airs), „Chimbacalle„ (parade), „El Chimborazo“ (dance).
