Swedish violinist and violin teacher, born October 2, 1947 in Hofors. She grew up in Borlänge where her father was a violin teacher and she herself got Lille Bror Söderlundh as a teacher. At the age of 14, she entered the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, where her teacher was Sven Karpe. She graduated in 1966 and in 1970 continued her studies for André Gertler in Brussels at the Royal Conservatoire de musique, where she graduated in 1972. Between 1977 and 2000, she worked as an associate professor at the Maastricht Conservatory of Music. In 2005, she moved back to Rättvik, Sweden. In 2017 she moved to Alingsås, Sweden and in November 2019 moved back to Belgium again. Nilla Pierrou has performed as a soloist in Europe and the USA and won international violin competitions, including in Munich ARD 1972, Budapest Szigeti 1973, and Leipzig Bach 1976. In Rättvik, she founded a school for violinists in 2005, André Gertler Violin Academy. Among Pierro's students are André Rieu and Roeland Gehlen.
